REBECCA SKELLY

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Seeking mental health treatment is often the first step of that journey, and it is an honor for me to be able to support you in navigating that process. You deserve a life that isn’t controlled by your trauma, is full of healthy and meaningful relationships, and allows you the freedom to be your most authentic self.

EXPERIENCE

I have eight years of experience providing mental health care as a registered nurse in a psychiatric hospital for those in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations experiencing mental health crisis. I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing degree and board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2017. I have practiced in both the inpatient and outpatient settings providing psychiatric treatment, including medication management, for adults with a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, post-traumatic stress, and substance use disorders.

PRACTICE APPROACH

I am warm, kind, and a great listener. I am fascinated to get to know others. I’m very passionate about helping people understand themselves better in the process of their healing and discovering their true potential. I like to take an open-minded, non-judgmental, and holistic approach to treatment that addresses your unique mental, physical, and spiritual needs. I believe treatment decisions are best made collaboratively between you and your mental health provider. Together we can determine what tools you can use to help make your symptoms manageable and your goals achievable. I can prescribe and manage your psychiatric medications, as well as provide brief psychotherapy including mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT

During your initial visit, I like to take time getting to know you by obtaining a thorough psychiatric evaluation. This visit will take approximately one hour. It is helpful if you are able to provide any past mental health records as well as a list of your current medications. Through this process, we will work together to establish your treatment goals and plan. Should you be in need of more intensive psychotherapy, I can refer you to some excellent therapists. If you are feeling hopeless in your search for treatment options that work for you, we can consider transmagnetic stimulation therapy or esketamine if you are an appropriate candidate. My goal is to instill in you a sense of hope and passion for living your life. Let’s talk and begin this journey together today.
